The ICT lab was worth K212 000 and it was donated to the University for the educational development of Zambia. PICZ Managing Director, Geoffrey Chirwa, when visited Rusangu University in order to sustain the company’s drive towards Corporate Social Responsibility was challenged by Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Mutuku Mutinga to take part in its science building project. The Prof. said that the science building is the first of its kind in the country and that motivated the MD to move further and it is then that he promised that the insurance company would support to purchase and implement a high-tech computer science lab for their science building project at Monze.
The lab that has been donated by the insurance company will allow both the students as well as the faculties to have an access to modern communication and IT equipment. In this world, you will find many people promising many things to the public; hardly a few makes an attempt to keep their words. So, it has been a great move by the Mahtani Group of Companies. Chirwa when speaking at the University even called upon the corporate world for developing the Rusangu University in the future. He said that the lab will have a big role to play in the life of older generations and the youngsters. He even added that people will come to know more about the prospects of the lab more they use it.
This move by PICZ made Mutinga a happy man. He now believes that the nation will be able to keep pace with the educational trends of the world. It is true that the efforts of Mr. Chirwa and Dr Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani cannot be ignored as far as the development of the science building project is concerned. Dr. Mahtani and Mahtani Group of Companies is even expected to contribute more towards the progress of the nation in the near future.
